Agnes Marton is a Hungarian-born poet, writer, editor, and curator, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, founding member of Phoneme Media (USA), Reviews Editor of The Ofi Press Mexico, and Art Curator at One Hand Clapping (UK).
Her multidisciplinary work brings together poetry, visual art, ecology, science, and performance. Her exhibitions and projects have been presented internationally, including at the British Library, London; the Court of Justice of the European Union, Luxembourg; and through projects in the USA, UK, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Her poetry has appeared widely in international journals and anthologies, including Estuary: A Confluence of Art and Poetry, winner of the Saboteur Award, Catechism: Poems for Pussy Riot, Shorelines, Human / Nature, Eternal Snow, and Anthem: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen. Her poem “Fish Speech, Remember?” was performed by the BBC Singers at the St Magnus International Festival in Orkney.
Marton has participated in residencies and literary programmes across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, including at the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge, the Bergman Estate, Sweden, and aboard a research vessel in the Arctic Circle. Her work often explores ecology, landscape, climate, and the relationship between human and non-human worlds.
She won the UK National Poetry Day Competition in 2017 and an ecopoetry prize in Hungary in 2022.
