Kathmandu, Nepal — The Himalayan Literature Festival & Writers’ Workshop (HLF-WWK) 2027 is pleased to welcome Devika Brendon, an acclaimed Sri Lankan writer, educator, editor, journalist and literary mentor, to its upcoming edition in Kathmandu.
Devika Brendon’s poetry and short stories have been widely published and anthologised in Sri Lanka, India and Australia. Her academic and journalistic writing has appeared across the USA, Europe and Australia, as well as in leading Sri Lankan publications including The Sun, The Sunday Times, The Sunday Island, Ceylon Today, The Daily Mirror, The Daily FT, Groundviews and The Morning.
An academic and teacher of English Language and Literature, Devika is also a columnist, reviewer, journalist, editor and creative writer, with a strong commitment to mentoring emerging writers of all ages.
She currently serves as Content Editor of New Ceylon Writing, an Editor with Girls On Key Publishing in Australia and New Zealand, Reviews Editor for Verity La in Australia, Executive Editor with Glitterati Journal in India, and a fiction manuscript assessor with Writing NSW.
Her participation will add a distinctive South Asian and international literary perspective to HLF-WWK 2027, bringing together writing, teaching, editing and literary mentorship.
HLF-WWK 2027 will be held in Kathmandu from May 29 to June 6, 2027, under the theme:
“Nature Writing, Travel Writing & the Spirit: Writing the Earth, Mapping the Soul.”
The festival is dedicated to the memory of Nepal’s celebrated poet Kavi Shiromani Lekhnath Paudyal and will feature writers, poets, editors, publishers and literary practitioners from Nepal and around the world.
