A Special Virtual Workshop with Dr. Mary Newell
Enhancing Whole Body Resonance for Impactful Writing
May 29, 2026
11:00 AM (New York Eastern Time)
Hosted by the
Himalayan Literature Festival & Writers Workshop (HLF-WWK)
Kathmandu, Nepal

The Himalayan Literature Festival & Writers Workshop is delighted to present a special virtual workshop with Mary Newell, PhD, exploring the relationship between sound, resonance, the body, and creative writing.
In this immersive two-hour session, participants will examine how vowel sounds shape tone, rhythm, and emotional response in writing. Drawing connections between language, breath, resonance, embodiment, and spiritual awareness, the workshop will guide writers toward a deeper and more embodied approach to creative expression.
Through attentive relaxation, vocal awareness, reading, and writing exercises, participants will discover how sound and resonance can expand expressive range and enrich literary practice across genres. The session will also include discussions of poems attentive to vowel music, guided exercises, and opportunities for participants to draft and reflect on their own writing.
