Victoria Chang is one of the most celebrated contemporary American poets. Her latest collection, Tree of Knowledge (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2026), follows the award-winning With My Back to the World (2024), which received the Forward Prize for Best Collection and was a finalist for the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and the PEN Jean Stein Book Award.
Her acclaimed collection OBIT (Copper Canyon Press, 2020) won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award in Poetry, and the PEN/Voelcker Award, and was a finalist for the Griffin International Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award, as well as longlisted for the National Book Award. Her other books include The Trees Witness Everything and the acclaimed nonfiction work Dear Memory. She has also written several children’s books, with Eureka forthcoming in 2026.
A recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Chowdhury International Prize in Literature, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Chang serves as the Bourne Chair in Poetry at Georgia Tech and directs Poetry@Tech. Her work is celebrated for its emotional depth, formal innovation, and profound exploration of memory, loss, family, and identity.
