Tanka Upreti

Tanka Upreti, Ph.D., is a prominent poet and essayist with a different taste and writing style. He has been published widely in the magazines of national and international repute. He has five volumes of poetry titled Anubhutika Aksharharu, Sabdaharuko Nepathya, Gajur Pagliera, Niguroko Kharani, Yatai Katai and one essay titled Khandeet Sapanako Geet published. There are two books published on media research to his credit. He lives in Kathmandu and works for Nepal Television as a Chief of Nepal Television (the national broadcaster) channel.
Tanka is awarded with the Best Poet by Youth in Environment and the Best Documentary Producer in the Asia Pacific region by ABU, UNDP, and MTV Asia and the Best Documentary Director in MTCP-2010. He is also awarded as an International Scholar by London Metropolitan University. Recently, He is also honored with National Fine Art Journalism Award by the Nepal Fine Arts Academy and Jay P. Chaudhary Best Producer honour. He is known as a poet of protest and hope and this is reflected in his writings. He has been engaging in peaceful revolutionary civil society movement through both writing and physical presence in Nepal.
