Srinivas Reddy

Srinivas Reddy is an Indian scholar, translator, and musician whose work bridges the worlds of classical learning and contemporary interpretation. Trained in the traditional guru–shishya lineage, he studied sitar under Pandit Partha Chatterjee, a direct disciple of the legendary Pandit Nikhil Banerjee.

Alongside his musical training, Reddy pursued classical South Asian languages and literatures at Brown University and University of California, Berkeley, developing a multidisciplinary approach that informs both his scholarship and creative practice. He is the author of several acclaimed works, including Raya: Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara (Juggernaut, 2020) and Illuminating Worlds: An Anthology of Classical Indian Literature (Bloomsbury, 2024), and has released three albums of sitar music.

Currently Associate Professor of South Asian Studies at Nayanta University, Srinivas Reddy’s work continues to illuminate the richness of India’s literary and musical traditions for global audiences.
