A bilingual poet, essayist, translator, and literary critic from India, Runa Bandyopadhyay is celebrated for her bold, experimental voice and cross-genre innovations. A scientist by profession and a literary adventurist by passion, she moves between Kolkata and Visakhapatnam, crafting work that fluidly bridges poetry, criticism, and transnational dialogue.
Her notable works include Pataquerical Ballad (2024), co-authored with Charles Bernstein; Resonance of Silence: A Literary Critique on Murat Nemet-Nejat (2026); and Nocturnal Whistle (2019). In Bengali, her books include Traveler to Bookyard (2020) and Enlightened Journey of the Dark (2017), where she pioneers an innovative, hybrid mode of literary critique. Her other publications span poetry and prose, including Recipe of Possibilities (2025), 50 mm Magical Moments with a Poet (2021), Enlightened Darkness of Dhiman (2022), and Me in the Mirror (2023).
Runa has also co-edited Hardcore Kaurab-2 (2013) with Barin Ghosal and the transcreation anthology Bridgeable Lines: An Anthology of Borderless World Poetry (2019), featuring twelve American poets. Her writing has appeared in numerous international journals, including Kitaab, boundary 2, Sibila, The Decadent Review, Muse India, and Ashvamegh, as well as leading Bengali print and online magazines. Notably, her literary criticism has been translated into Portuguese and published alongside its English version in Sibila, reflecting her growing global readership and critical reach.
