Nancy Parish is a musician and teacher. Her writing experience is limited to odes for friends and relatives on momentous occasions, song parodies, and her formerly annual Nancy’s Noel Notes (all the news that’ll fit). Her love of travel is what brings her into this group. Her South Dakota upbringing informs her attitudes and viewpoints. She plays piano, organ, finger cymbals and triangle; sings, conducts and has music directed musical theater productions. She taught music to children ages 3 – 13 in the elementary classroom for 18 years and teaches piano privately. She sings jazz standards with a small vocal ensemble known as Uncommon Chord. When the school recently closed, she transitioned to teaching English as a second language with the Fordham University Institute of American Language and Culture. This new project has indulged her love of words, phonics, etymology, foreign language, and the immigrant population. In previous lives, she has studied healing and psychotherapy and court reporting. On occasion, Nancy obsesses about politics.
