Kathmandu, Nepal — The Himalayan Literature Festival & Writers Workshop (HLF–WWK) is proud to announce the launch of a major new initiative: the Poetry Film Festival, to be held as part of HLF–WWK 2026 from 29 May to 5 June in Kathmandu. This marks the first festival of its kind in the region dedicated exclusively to films that engage with literature, poetry, and the written word.
The Poetry Film Festival will present lyrical, narrative, and experimental films where poetry shapes the cinematic body—films born of language, carried by rhythm, and rendered in light and shadow.

Call for Submissions
HLF–WWK invites filmmakers, writers, artists, and festival directors from around the world to submit works that demonstrate a strong literary or poetic foundation. Eligible submissions include:
- Short poetry films
- Literary adaptations and adapted screenplays
- Biographical or documentary films on poets and writers
- Feature-length films rooted in literary or poetic traditions
The festival particularly encourages innovative, cross-genre, and experimental works that blur boundaries between poetry, prose, cinema, performance, and visual art.
Submission Deadline: 15 March 2026
Submission & Contact: hlfwwk2026@gmail.com | https://hlf.whitelotusbookshop.com/
Selected films will be screened during HLF–WWK 2026 in collaboration with cultural and educational institutions in Nepal and beyond. The festival actively welcomes partnerships and invites universities, cultural centers, embassies, and arts organizations to participate through screenings, panel discussions, and related public programs.
