Olga Anikina

Olga Anikina is a Russian poet, novelist, essayist, and translator based in Saint Petersburg. A member of the Union of Writers of St. Petersburg, she is the author of several poetry collections and prose works, including the novels ‘The Body from Nowhere’, ‘White Monkey, Black Screen’, ‘Call Me by Name’, and ‘A Bull Runs Down a Dark Staircase’. Her writing has appeared in Russian and international literary magazines.

Olga Anikina graduated from the correspondence department of the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute, where she defended a thesis on Sherwood Anderson’s prose and poetry (1917–1921), with a focus on rhythm and hybrid literary forms. She also completed a course in literary translation from Yiddish at the European University at St. Petersburg and has published numerous translations of Jewish literature and folklore.

Her work has been recognized with several literary awards, including the First Gogol Prize (2022) and the Anna Akhmatova Prize (2025).
