HLF-WWK 2026 Festival Announcement!
We are delighted to welcome Indian poet and novelist Jeet Thayil to the Himalayan Literature Festival.
Jeet Thayil is the author of five novels and five books of poetry, and the editor of The Penguin Book of Indian Poets. His most recent poetry collection, I’ll Have It Here, won both the Sarojini Naidu Award and the Kalinga Literary Award. His latest novel, The Elsewhereans, continues his bold exploration of language, exile, and contemporary life.
His acclaimed novel Narcopolis was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize (2012). He has also edited The Bloodaxe Book of Contemporary Indian Poets (2008), a landmark anthology of contemporary Indian writing.
Born in Kerala in 1959, Jeet Thayil was educated in Hong Kong, New York, and Bombay. In addition to his literary work, he is a songwriter and guitarist. He currently lives in New Delhi.
