Shiven Thapa is a Kathmandu-based writer and editor. Though works of fiction are still new to him, Wesleyan University’s creative writing specialization led by authors like Brando Skyhorse has reignited his imagination. With a background rooted in deciphering the intricacies of global policies and communicating complex ideas through non-fiction, he has embarked on an exciting journey into the world of fiction.
Before venturing into the realm of fiction, Shiven honed his skills in deciphering the policies of the World Trade Organization, authoring and editing trade journals, books and magazines. From trade-related intellectual property rights to farmer’s rights, his work highlights the impact bilateral and international trade policies have on South Asia.
More on South Asia, he worked as managing editor for Himal Southasian. He has co-authored coffee table books like The 100 Years of New Delhi alongside some of India’s foremost historians. It was published by the Hindustan Times, a landmark for them too. Shiven has written advertising copy for international lifestyle brands, crafting compelling stories and narratives for diverse audiences.
