Lara Gularte is Poet Laureate Emeritus of El Dorado County, California. Her most recent book of poetry, Fourth World Woman, was published by “Finishing Line Press,” and her book, Kissing the Bee, about her Azorean heritage was published by “The Bitter Oleander Press.” Her writing, influenced by deep image poets, speaks to her search for self through her cultural heritage and the natural world. She is affiliated with the Cigarros Colloquium: Azoreans Diaspora Writers, at the Portuguese Beyond Borders Institute (PBBI), California State University-Fresno. Gularte is a teaching artist of creative writing in the arts of corrections program at Mule Creek State Prison, conducts Ekphrastic poetry/writing workshops at art galleries and hosts writing workshops at local libraries.
