American poet Bob Whelan is the founder and organizer of the Rockport International Poetry Festival and serves as the Poet Laureate of Rockport, Massachusetts.
In 2022, he received a Silver Medal at the Naoussa International Poetry Festival for his contribution to the Advancement of World Poetry. His poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and journals, and he is a beloved voice at open mics across Boston, New England, and internationally.
Most recently, in 2025, Bob’s poetry was included in the Lunar Codex, a NASA project that sent poetry and art to the surface of the Moon, creating a digital archive for future space explorers.
